It is common knowledge that the current IOS and Android are the two giants of the most dominant OS in the world. In the midst of this competition, Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, confidently issued a statement this summer that the current Android OS Apple has beat them. “Right now the iPhone ahead of Android,” he said when speaking in the LeWeb conference in Paris, as quoted by CNET, Thursday, December 8, 2011.
The silence soon emerged as Schmidt said that. Then, he revealed the reason. “Unit volume, Ice Cream Sandwiches, lower prices, as well as more vendors.” Currently there are 200 million Android devices in the land and 550 thousand devices which are activated per day. However, Schmidt predicted the emergence of Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich will provide extra power for Android in boosting sales and attracting developers.
Application developers, said Schmidt, driven by the large number of devices on the market. On the other hand, the market is very interested in the concept of openness that run Android. “Like it or not with Android, in the end you will support these platforms, it may even provide your applications on Android first,” he said.
One conference participant said later that he was annoyed by the fact that the application for IOS beat Android on the market. Schmidt later said that he believes this will change with the emergence of Ice Cream Sandwich. “My prediction about six months looking the other way around,” he said.
One of the questions raised about Android is thought the former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, who consider the features in IOS Android has been plagiarized. To this question, Schmidt gives ?answers that have been issued repeatedly: “Android was created before the iPhone.”
