Because of the Playbook, RIM Loses Rp 4.3 Trillions

Instead of making Research in Motion (RIM) to reap large profits, the BlackBerry Playbook make the Canadian manufacturer lost up to $ 485 million, or about Rp 4.3 trillion.

The reason is that the BlackBerry Playbook was produced far more than the number of the units that have been sold. So the prime stock of RIM’s tablet is still piling up in their factories and stores.

Quoted from tomsguide, Monday (5/12/2011), RIM admitted that they only managed to sell about 150 thousands of the Blackberry Playbook through their partners. But if the number is added with retail sales, the estimated the number could be more.

Since the beginning of sales of the Playbook is shuffled and the price is kept down by printing the expected sales figures. From the initial price of $ 500, now the some sellers even dares to give a price of USD 200.

“RIM is still committed to the BlackBerry Playbook, because we believe the tablet market will continue to grow. Although several factors led to this product inventory piling up in the third quarter, but with the arrival of the Playbook OS 2.0 would be better sales,” said Mike Lazaridis, Co-RIM CEO.
